We know it’s not fun to think about, but fire season is around the corner. It’s time to check the insurance coverage on the property you own. Here’s some questions to think through.

Coverage Limits:

How much insurance do I have?

• On my building?
• On the contents in my building?
• For tools and equipment at job sites or in my trucks and vans?

Do I have Business Income coverage in the event of a covered loss?

Other Considerations:

How high are my deductibles?

What does my insurance policy require me to do in the event of a loss?

Do I have pre-loss pictures or video of my property?

Are those records in a safe place where they can be obtained after a loss?

Make sure you have the coverage you need, and document the property you have. Pictures or videos can be uploaded to the cloud or sent to your broker to be kept on file.
